Ways to Donate

It is a Jewish tradition to perform Tzedakah (charitable contributions) in times of joy or sorrow. Honoring a loved one through charitable gifts is often an especially meaningful act of paying tribute. You may make your donation in memory of, or in honor of someone, or in honor of family and friends at times such as a Bar/Bat Mitzvah, birth of a child or grandchild, anniversary or other notable occasion.

At Congregation B’nai Tikvah, we honor loved ones, past present and future, by honoring memory and celebrating life cycles.  This can be done by ordering a Yahrzeit name plate as “A Living Memorial” to perpetuate the memory of a loved one or by making a contribution to one of our funds…

Mitzvah Fund

Provides membership fee assistance due to financial hardship. Your contribution will help to ensure that no one gets turned away from being part of our community because of their ability to pay full dues.

Religious School Tuition Fund

Your contribution will help to a child be able to continue their Jewish education regardless of their ability to pay full Religious School fees.

Oneg / Kiddush Fund

Your contribution provides refreshments for our weekly onegs and kiddushes. If you would like to sponsor an oneg or Kiddush for a birthday, anniversary, yahrzeit or other life cycle or special event please contact the Synagogue office.

Yahrzeit/Memorial Plaques

Purchasing a memorial plaque for display in the sanctuary is a wonderful opportunity to honor the memory of a loved one. Each plaque contains the name and date of death in both English and Hebrew. Each year the plaque remains lit during the entire Hebrew month in which the Yahrzeit occurs. Plaques are prepaid and cost $200 each.

Building Fund

Provides funding for major repairs and improvements to the Temple beyond the normal maintenance activities in the annual budget.

Rabbi's or Cantor's Discretionary Funds

It is a fund that can be used at the discretion of the Rabbi or Cantor, allowing them to assist others when needed.

Annual High Holiday Pledge

Each year at High Holidays, Temple members and guests are asked to reflect on the value that the B’nai Tikvah adds to their lives.  We all rely on the synagogue for an array of programs and services, and the reality is that dues just do not cover all of the operating expenses for the year. We ask that you give generously to this fund each year so that we can continue to have a strong presence in the North County community.

Leave a Living Legacy

Many discover that their long-range estate and financial plans provide a thoughtful way to make memorial gifts to honor others. Consider a gift included in your will or living trust to establish a lasting legacy. Excess retirement funds such as pension plans or IRAs may allow you to give more while eliminating taxes that may otherwise largely deplete these assets.  Even gifts of life insurance (policies that you purchased to protect a loved one who no longer needs that protection) can be a generous way to make a gift in honor of that person.

Become a “Friend of B’nai Tikvah”

If you want to support us without becoming a member, please consider becoming a "Friend of B'nai Tikvah". For a donation of $250 or more, you can feel comfortable joining our congregation for services or holidays as a "Friend" and supporter. Membership benefits such as Hebrew School enrollment, voting privileges and High Holiday tickets, etc. are not included in this category.
